Downloadable / Printable Reading Cards

Developed by experienced language teachers, these unique reading practice cards are designed for individual, “self-service” use. They can be placed in a Resources Centre, used in class (e.g. for carousel activities) or borrowed for homework.

The cards are intended to be printed and laminated to be used again and again. Students help themselves to cards, answer the questions in their exercise book, then mark their work (or their peers’) and write their scores on the record sheet. There is no preparation, marking or duplication for teachers, allowing time to be spent where most needed.

About Revilo

Revilo was created by Oliver Gray with the support of Birgit Gray in 1989. Oliver taught languages for over 20 years in a comprehensive school in Winchester, and now concentrates on writing. He is the author of many of the UK's most popular language course books, including the best-selling LOGO 4 (Heinemann), VOILÀ 4 (Nelson Thornes), SAG MAL (Longman) and MISSION FRANÇAIS (Collins).

In 2014, Oliver and Birgit celebrated the company's 25th anniversary. Today, Revilo is recognised as being one of the leading UK language publishers for schools. Revilo became part of the Linguascope family in 2016.

The self-service laminated card format is so popular that Revilo cards are to be found in two-thirds of all UK secondary schools, and a good number of primary schools too. This is not surprising, since the principles of recycling and economy are very appealing to cash-strapped educational institutions. The new, fourth-generation full-colour cards are just as popular as their monochrome predecessors, many of which remain in use in schools after a decade or more!

Our customers tell us that they love our resources because they are practical, straightforward, unfussy, very easy to use and they WORK – unlike many much more expensive and "flashy" resources.

Testimonials & Reviews

“Our students really enjoy the self-access, well-organised materials. It is obvious that the materials are written by teachers, because the language is perfectly pitched and the activities challenging but approachable. I was moved to write this e-mail whilst watching my mixed ability Year 9 class of 30 students last Friday afternoon - they spent an hour working at their own pace on reading activities, and you could have heard a pin drop!” – Sir James Smith’s School, Cornwall

“Extremely good value. A flexible and attractive resource that should have a place in every language department.” – TES

“Up-to-date, clear and accessible tasks, ideally suited for autonomous student use.” – TES

“A hugely useful resource at a reasonable price.” – Francophonie
